In an emotional interview with MSNBC, theย Elektraย star revealed the personal toll the disaster has taken on her. โI did lose a friend who did not get out in time,โ the actress said. Her voice filled with sorrow as she expressed the immense loss felt by so many. โMy heart bleeds for my friends. I mean, I can think of 100 families, and there are 5,000 homes lost.โ

Reflecting on her own fortune, Garner expressed a deep sense of survivorโs guilt. โI feel almost guilty walking through my house,โ she admitted. โWhat can I do? How can I help? What can I offer? What do I have to offer with these hands and these walls and the safety that I have?โ
The actress also recounted the stark reminder of her loss, saying, โIโm looking at the chimney of somebody that I loved. [โฆ] Itโs awful โ kind of unimaginable.โ
The fires have proven especially devastating in Los Angeles, with the Palisades fire alone torching over 23,000 acres and currently only 14 percent contained. Meanwhile, the Eaton fire has burned through more than 14,000 acres in Altadena and Pasadena, with containment at just 33 percent. Adding to the crisis, the National Weather Service has warned of a โparticularly dangerous situation,โ with Santa Ana winds expected to exacerbate the situation in the coming days.
