The former president of New York Universityโs College Republicans chapterย has released a statement after being forced to resign from the role over comments made about Barron Trump.
NYUโs Stern School of Business became the college of choice for the presidentโs youngest son last year โ the institution is regarded as one of the top business schools in America.
Aside from the fact that he is trailed by Secret Service agents wherever he goes and isnโt likely to have a usual college experience in any way, shape or form, not much is known about Barronโs life on campus, nor how heโs settled in after beginning the next chapter of his life.
Which is probably why fellow Stern student Kaya Walker garnered so much attention after an interview withย Vanity Fairย where she described him in terms that have been interpreted by many as unflattering.
Kaya had been the president of NYU Collegeย Republicans, butย had no choice but to step down after the comments she made about Donald and Melania Trumpโs son.
Sheย toldย Vanity Fair of Barron Trump: โHeโs sort of like an oddity on campus.โ
Kaya added: โHe goes to class, he goes home.โ
Perhaps unsurprisingly she found herself heavily criticized online, with the College Republicans of America (CRA) labeling her comments โinappropriateโ and in conflict with its โvalues and principlesโ.
As the story picked up more and more traction, Kaya ultimately resigned from her presidential role on Sunday night (February 16).
Now, days later, she has broken her silence to address the controversy in an interview with theย New York Post.
โโIโve been killing myself trying to support the conservative movement,โ she said. โEverybody knows that itโs an uphill battle being a Republican at NYU.โ
She went on:ย โIโve put my everything into building up my chapter. I built [attendance] up exponentially.
โItโs been insane, especially this past year, weโve seen such a rise in membership and had such a great time.โ
Barron Trump had been kept outside the spotlight for years before appearing alongside his father, Donald Trump, to celebrate the presidential election victory this past November. The 18-year-old son of Donald andย Melania Trumpย has always been an object of interest for people worldwide due to his height, and his star-status has only grown as heโs entered adulthood.
According to aย People Magazineย source, the 18-year-old has been โpopular with the ladiesโ since starting classes at NYUโs Stern School of Business in September.
โHeโs at Stern so heโs studying business in some way. Heโs a ladies man for sure. Heโs really popular with the ladies,โ the source said. โHeโs tall and handsome. A lot of people seem to think heโs pretty attractive โ yes, even liberal people like him.โ
