California wildfires during an appearance on Jimmy Fallon\u2019s show.<\/p>\n
With wildfires continuing to blaze through Los Angeles, California<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
\u2013 reported as having taken the lives of at least five people and destroyed<\/p>\n
over 1,000 structures \u2013 Freaky Friday actor Jamie Lee Curtis has<\/p>\n
shared advice and urged people to offer support in any way they can.<\/p>\n
Curtis took to Instagram to speak out about the devastation being caused<\/p>\n
by the wildfires in a post shared yesterday (January 8).<\/p>\n
She wrote: \u201cMy community and possibly my home is on fire. My family is safe.<\/p>\n
Many of my friends will lose their homes. Many other communities as well.<\/p>\n
There are so many conflicting reports. With all the technology there seems<\/p>\n
to be very little information. PLEASE POST FACTS! IT WILL HELP THOSE WONDERING!<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is a terrifying situation and I\u2019m grateful to the firefighters and all of the<\/p>\n
good Samaritans who are helping people get out of the way of the blaze. Neighbors<\/p>\n
have taken care of neighbors. We ALL take everything for granted because we are all<\/p>\n
living our lives but when it hits your community, it\u2019s particularly shocking.<\/p>\n
Life on life\u2019s terms. If ever there was need for the use of the phrase MY HAND IN YOURS,<\/p>\n
it is right now. Take care of each other. Stay out of the way and let the firefighters<\/p>\n
do their work. Pray if you believe in it and even if you don\u2019t, pray for those who do.\u201d<\/p>\n
The actor appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon later that day, with<\/p>\n
the episode seeing Curtis admit she felt like she was \u2018literally about to cry\u2019 shortly after sitting down to chat with the host.<\/p>\n

While noting she felt like crying \u2018mostly because of [receiving a] beautiful welcome\u2019,<\/p>\n
Curtis continued: \u201cAs you know, where I live is on fire right now. Literally,<\/p>\n
the entire city of the Pacific Palisades is burning.\u201d<\/p>\n
The actor explained she found out about the devastation that was occurring while<\/p>\n
on a plane flying over to California, receiving texts informing her what was happening.<\/p>\n
She said: \u201cIt\u2019s f**king gnarly, you guys. It\u2019s a catastrophe in Southern California.<\/p>\n
Obviously there has been horrific fires in many places. This is literally where<\/p>\n
I live. Everything. The market I shop in, the schools my kids go to, friends.\u201d<\/p>\n
Curtis revealed \u2018many, many, many\u2019 of her friends have \u2018lost their homes,\u2019<\/p>\n
emphasizing\u2019 it\u2019s a really awful situation\u2019 before urging people to help where they can.<\/p>\n

She resolved: \u201cI am obviously going to go home first thing tomorrow and be with<\/p>\n
my family and try to help my friends, but it is \u2013 just so I can tell you, if you<\/p>\n
know anybody on the West Coast or not, the American Red Cross, support them.<\/p>\n
They will come in and help people. Do anything you can, anything in your<\/p>\n
community to help people. Whether you need it or not now, you will need it.<\/p>\n
\u201cGive blood, donate, animal shelters.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd remember, since I\u2019m on the middle of a very big television show, for anybody<\/p>\n
living anywhere, have an emergency kit in your house. I\u2019m an American Red Cross ambassador<\/p>\n
\u2013 have an emergency kit with prescription glasses, medicines, dog food,<\/p>\n
baby formula, all the things you need if you need to flee.\u201d<\/p>\n
In another updated shared to Instagram, Curtis said: \u201cOur home is safe.<\/p>\n
So many others have lost everything. Help where you can.\u201d<\/p>\n
