President-elect Donald Trump announced on Tuesday his plans to change the name of the \u201cGulf of Mexico\u201d to the \u201cGulf of America.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are going be changing \u2014 the the opposite of Biden closing everything up and getting rid of 50 to 60 trillion worth of assets \u2014 we\u2019ll be changing the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the gulf of America, which has a beautiful ring,\u201d Trump announced.
\n\u201cThat covers a lot of territory. The Gulf of America. What a beautiful name. It is appropriate. It\u2019s appropriate,\u201d Trump added.<\/p>\n
Trump announced on Tuesday morning a $20 billion foreign investment to build new data centers in the United States.<\/p>\n
Billionaire Hussain Sajwani, a Trump associate and founder of the property development company DAMAC Properties, is pledging the money.<\/p>\n
Trump was joined by Sajwani at this Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida, where the duo made the announcement and spoke about the positive impact it will have on the nation.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m thrilled to announce today that DAMAC will be investing at least $20,000,000,000 over a very short period of time into the United States, and they may go double or even somewhat more than double that amount of money,\u201d Trump declared.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe was very inspired by the election,\u201d Trump said, joking that Sajwani may double that investment.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s been amazing news for me and my family when he was elected\u2026We have been waiting four years to increase our investments in the U.S.\u201d Sajwani said.<\/p>\n
Trump also weaved the conversation into President Joe Biden\u2019s executive order that bans new oil and gas drilling in some federal waters as the latest last-minute effort to stop Trump\u2019s pro-oil plans.<\/p>\n
Two weeks before Trump was scheduled to take office, the order was made at the last minute. It was also made on the same day that Congress was supposed to confirm the results of the 2024 election for president.<\/p>\n
Monday, President Joe Biden said that he was using his power under the Outer Continental Shelf Lands Act, which is a law from 1953 that controls projects for oil and gas drilling in the ocean.<\/p>\n
One part of the law lets the president forever block future leasing and drilling in federal waters. No language in it says if future leaders can take away these protections.<\/p>\n
Biden\u2019s order stops all new fishing off the East Coast as well as the coasts of California, Oregon, and Washington State.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey took away 620 million acres of offshore drilling. Nobody else does that. We\u2019ll put it back on Day One. I\u2019ll have it revoked on Day One. Immediately. We\u2019ll go to the courts [if needed],\u201d Trump declared.<\/p>\n
\u201c[Biden said] he wants the transition to be smooth. Well, you don\u2019t do [this],\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
Last month, Trump announced a $100 billion investment in the United States by SoftBank.<\/p>\n
Speaking from Mar-a-Lago, the 47th president spoke alongside SoftBank Group CEO Masayoshi Son, where they announced SoftBank\u2019s plans to invest $100 billion in the United States over the next four years.<\/p>\n
Masayoshi Son said his \u201cconfidence level\u201d in the US economy has \u201ctremendously increased with [Trump\u2019s] victory,\u201d adding, \u201cBecause of that \u2013 I am committing $100 billion and 100,000 jobs into the United States. This is double of last time\u2026 because President Trump is a double-down president.\u201d<\/p>\n
Trump said the investment was evidence of \u201cmonumental confidence in America\u2019s future.\u201d He playfully encouraged Son to invest $200 billion. Son chuckled and said that he would try.<\/p>\n
Trump called Son \u201cone of the most accomplished business leaders of our time.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThe $100 billion pledge, made at a flag-bedecked event at Trump\u2019s Mar-a-Lago club in Palm Beach, Florida, fits in with Trump\u2019s vow to bolster the U.S. economy and reduce the impact of inflation on Americans during his second term, which begins on Jan. 20,\u201d Reuters reported.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
